Actually, the van parked there to protest the land "development" similar to a hippie chaining themselves to a tree. They tried. You gotta give them that. They lost, but, hell, they got publicity to compensate the "loss" of the minivan. My opinion is one minivan less on the road is success!

I read the article these photos are from, and unfortunately, this isn't some kind of publicity victory against "development." This city in China decided it was developing and area and forced everyone out, "purchasing" their homes for way less that they were worth. This car belongs to an everyday working guy who can't afford to buy another. He parked it there thinking it might give him more time to save his house. Rather than towing it and allowing him to retrieve it, they screwed him over entirely. So now he loses his home AND his car. Weird pictures, sad story.
